Mat-tsun and Mari-chan's relationship and circumstances are somewhat similar to Ichinose and Takanashi-san's since Takanashi and Mari both (more or less) have an unrequited love and the two popular boys both fell for those stubborn, (first) guy-hating girls.
But for those who read Hatsu*Haru: Nijiiro Days isn't only about Mat-tsun and Mari-chan. It's abot Mat-tsun, his three best friends and their love interests.
