Both share a theme of the yakuza, and both have dark characters struggling with dark pasts.
One thing that I liked about both series was the lack of "blushing ukes," if you know what I mean. The uke in TC was very strong willed and independent. The uke in YOT is a uke in position only. Otherwise, he actually has more personality traits of a typical seme than a uke. I like the strong "maleness" of the uke and the seme in both series.
They're both very romantic stories when it comes down to it. Yea, they're dark and twisted
