Another Yuhki Kamatani work and therefore has a similar style and method of storytelling. This work includes LGBTQ+ characters and themes of growing into oneself. Shounen Note differs from Shimanami Tasogare in that LGBTQ+ issues are not the main plot point--the story focuses on a middle school choir. That being said, many characters face internal battles and struggle to understand themselves, just as in Shimanami Tasogare.
