Fruits Basket is a shoujo and Negima is a shounen. But they're two of my favorite series from when I was around 10 years old, and have remained some in my favorites throughout my life for, I feel, a similar reason.
They're character-based stories.
They're loosely based in a school setting.
They're fantasy and every character hides some kind of fantasy-related secret.
They're comedies with light sexual innuendos, but clueless protagonists.
The protagonists are liked, by the other characters, for their cluelessness and pure heart.
The story sometimes get very emotional, very dark
Yet you could say that the vast majority of their cast, while having flaws
Is made of good people.
