Both series are gay love stories that are respectfully presented and both have emotional stories.
Hoppe ni Himawari focuses more on the struggle with body image and Blue deals with first love, personal problems with the characters and the struggle with heteronormativity in society.
Blue is more of a serious manga with a melancholy tone. It has a very unique minimalist art style that can be hard to follow but regardless, I 10/10 would recommend if your looking for more LGBT representation and a wonderful story!
