Both are about clever, strong, independent women in the face of the rigidity of feudal court intrigues, trying maintaining their spirit as well as their status as nobles, while juggling their personal feeling as women. Both are interesting shoujo drama, one is slightly less dreamy than the other, but both spend serious effort to characterised their characters, making them interesting and relatable, and not at all frivolous such as the hundreds of copycat plot to victimise the main character. The female villains are not cartoonish, they are simply another side of womanhood, whose insecurity, fear and of course, love, turns them cruel and malicious.
