They are very similar. The character design and animation are similar, and both stories involve different groups taking advantage of one other to achieve some spiritual goal. In both stories, the chosen ones can use supernatural powers to save/destroy the planet, and in the end it's love and peace that win.
In other words, they are stereotypically the same.
