They are similar because the main protagonist moves to a building and there both learn about themselves, what surrounds them and even about the place itself. So that's why Sakurasou and Kissuiso are similar.

Characters as a driving force. A once cold place now bustling with life, illuminated by colors of its people. Familial bonds singing in unison with the bonds of friendship. Trials of teenage romance. Marital comforts. Selfishness versus selflessness, understanding versus misunderstanding. Talent versus hard work. Old versus new. Flow of time. Tears signifying a decisive victory of youth.

Both centres around characters living together in a housing environment. For Hanasaku it's a Inn and a dorm for Sakurasou. While they also go to highschool. Both shows have the characters coming together like a family as they live/work under the same roof. Both explores the characters, their ambitions and development.

-> In both shows, a group of people unites over love for the place they live\work at. -> Both have good character development, although Sakurasou focuses on romance and Hanasaku on identifying one's true self and one's wishes. -> Both depict relationships of romance, friendship and older-to-younger affection. Basically, they are both heart-warming shoujo anime that will make you want to hug your friends and family 'till their pass out from lack of air. :)

both of them are really similar 1-both have the same idea of moving and meeting with new people and dealing with it. 2-both are really funny and cute

Both animes have the main character moved to another place they don't like to be in at first, but once they spend a few time in it, they don't want to leave anymore. They both love the place they live in and fight to preserv it, and all the people who live in also became like a family. If you liked the quality of Sakurasou, the characters and plot, I'm sure you will not be dissapointed with Hanasaku Iroha.
