- These series have some of the most ri-god-damn-diculous scenarios I’ve seen in anime, and they can pull off over the top comedy and reactions in the best way - Both are long series with multiple parts and plenty of action (Gintama is around 370 episodes and Jojo is over 150 and still being adapted to anime at the time I’m writing this) - Both have historical settings with fantasy/sci-fi elements - Gintama is set in an alternate Edo-period Japan that is also inhabited by various alien races, while Jojo is set throughout various time periods starting in Victorian England and has many characters with mystical powers -   read more

JoJo and Gintama are really similar, they're both over-the-top action series, they both incorporate a lot of humor, they both produce an IMMENSE amount of memes with goofy moments and likable characters, but at the same time, they both have spine-tingling and dark moments.

I feel like both of those shows (counting in all of JoJo) require the viewer to fully embrace the uniqueness and weirdness of them. Both shows are special and definitely different from what many might watch from current mainstream anime but if you love one of them, I think chances are good that you’ll enjoy the other one too.
