Both anime got a 'kids and their cool pet' story. Both are subversive about it. They question the nature of these cool pets.
Medabots is better at its exploration. The Medabots are a represntation of weaponry. What the Digimon represent isn't very clear.
They both move from light-hearted to dark at the end. While Medabots is less convenient and weirder, Digimon Tamers has better character development.
