Both shows has very colorful, childish and deceptive opening sequence, and also both shows despite the innocent looks, has quite dramatic, mature and tragic storyline. The art seems aimed for kids, but the story, certainly not.
Both have a similar art style and dark twist on the fighting monsters genre.
