both are high school drama and love story. Both MC have multiple girls that like him, both have some comedy in them and a good plot twist near the end

the clannad franchise is like a clean minded version of Shuffle! a romance comedy drama mix up.. a bunch of girls surround the MC and and he chooses the girl who's the best friend figure who is often prone to sickness...Nagisa is like a mixture of the gentle house wife part of Kaede Fuyou and the sickness proned best friend part of Asa Shigure. and her mom is just like ami shigure in how she carries herself ... also supernatural special effects with the capacity to restore loved ones. ...there's also a crazy dad. (nagisa's pops/sia's pops)
