To me both of these gave a similar vie which is something I often look for when looking at similar anime, it's all about the vibe the series has. Also both are set in a supernatural school setting and it's no secret that such powers exist, the power system is different with A Certain Scientific Railgun focusing on psychic "esper" powers and Irregular At Magic High Shcool focusing more on magic, overall both series still have a similar feeling to them.
