Both are very violent with heavy emphasis on action (but with swords instead of fists).
Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star's lead) and Jubei (Ninja Scroll's lead) are both very similar in their battles and exploits (Jubei is perhaps a little less scrupulous and more antiheroic than Kenshiro though). Both also feature female romantic interests in the form of Yuria (Fist) and Kagero (Scroll).
