Both series emit a sort of nostalgic feeling that makes you feel calm and happy when you watch them (at least for me it did). Kobato and Sawako are socially awkward but in a good way; they are both naive, honest, and very considerate of others but they can be a bit overdramatic exceeding others' expectations. To a certain extent both are slice of life animes, although Kobato's got Clamp's usual magical elements and cross-over characters and Todoke's got Sawako's Sadako (the Ring, if you know what I mean) misunderstanding.
