Despite that I watched them after another, those two share strikingly many similarities.
The whole plot line is almost identical, but despite that, both movies are different nonetheless and both likable as their own. If you cheered for Suzume ans Shouta to reach their goals and maybe have shed a few tears during the finale, you will rut for Hiiragi and Tsumugi too. Even though they act a little more child like, their stories both touched my heart.

Both "Suzume" and "My Oni Girl" are supernatural adventure films that have come out in the early-mid 2020s. Some similarities they have include:
-they both involve our protagonists going on a journey around Japan, aided by many friendly people along the way
-the protagonists reach their initial objective by the mid point of the film, but this results in a much bigger challenge that needs to be overcome in the finale
-the events in the two films revolve around unusual weather phenomenon caused by supernatural means, such as massive earthquakes in "Suzume" and snowstorms in the summer in "My Oni Girl"
