They are both mystery animes and are "classic" detective style thrillers but they are quite similar when it comes to the two main characters. In both mystery series the two main characters are in the main focus, their clever conversation, their interactions and how their relationship develops.
Of course in Umineko they are against one another to solve the case where in Subete ga F ni Naru they are working together, but great chemistry between them, so good that sometimes the overall plot is forgotten when watching those two´s interaction with one another.
