They may not share the same aesthethic, like one is in apocalyptic world and the other doesn't, but what this two series shared is the theme (I guess ?), where the MC using a motorized vehicle visiting one place / city / community / nation / what have you, to another. And each place they visit have their own quirk and problems - The 2017 one is good as well, it's not exactly retelling the same place, tho some of them is, but there is also a new one as well

Both of them involves the main cast adventuring and exploring many different places that are different from your typical fantasy/ scifi.
The places they visited have their theme of own unique style of customs and problems and environments to them where's the main cast have or encounters a quark that prevents them from staying for too long
