They listen to the Stories, then try to help them with the problems that arise from Humans and Spirits meeting.
Not all encounters are Happy outcomes, but both are Great to watch.
Both are about spirits (yaoguai) and have bittersweet stories in each episode

Both focus on stories of Yaoguai (aka yokai) and are anthologies with a lot of heart in this episodic structure. Each has a few core characters which link the stories together. Natsume tends to be a bit more optimistic where Bai Yao Pu is a bit sadder, but the atmospheres otherwise are very similar. Definitely recommend both!
