The two anime have many similarities:
In both series, the main character is motivated by his feelings for a girl to pursue success in sports.
Both stories revolve around a high school boy who falls for a girl who is successful in sports.
In both cases, the protagonist and the heroine live close to each other
Both anime also feature a love triangle, where a girl from the MC's past develops romantic feelings for him.
The protagonist in Ao no Hako acts more maturely and rationally compared to the lead in Suzuka, although both still show signs of inexperience and emotional immaturity.

Both animes are focused on sports and romance.
The MCs are both kinda dumb, but also charismatic. They have to grow up in a lot of aspects.
The main heroine have different personalities (Suzuka is more of a tsundere), but they're both the ace of their sports.
The MCs also have a childhood friend who's in love with them.
But anyways, Suzuka is one of my favorite animes. Watching an anime that reminds me of Suzuka that much is really nice.
