Two slice of lifes with a talking cat living within a family of humans. ME isn't about youkai living amongst humans but there are references of Mikan perhaps actually being a nekomata which Buchio would turn into within TnY.
Main difference would be that Mikan is hiding the fact he can talk human-language whereas Buchio doesn't need to hide this.
The stories are different but they are similar with their light-hearted and heartwarming moments amongst some serious things that occur within them, although ME is a lot more comedic and in nature throughout compared to the fairly heavy lore of TnY has as it progresses.
