I found the magical depictions of art in both anime similar in atmosphere.
Sugar sculpting and flower arranging are presented beautifully in both anime.
The tone of the shows is vastly different, with 'Sugar Apple Fairy Tale' being set in a darker and historical world where fairies are enslaved and Magic-Kyun! set in a magical modern school.
Both have a storyline where the heroine tries to befriend someone strongly opposed to her because of who she is.
