In both shows a person aspires to be a DJ, even though they know nothing of DJing at first.
Both have very bad animation style (Tonkatsu is very cartoony and D4DJ is CG) and the music isn't very good compared to what most Western DJs play. But if you are interested in the DJ culture and want to know how they work, both anime are worth watching.
In Tonkatsu most of the cast is male, while in in D4DJ the cast is female and much bigger.
