There's a lot of similar themes like existentialism, found family, human experimentation, achieving "the end", characters with extremely dubious motives, Biblical references (angels, demons, apocalypse)...NGE is more on the psychological/disturbing side while Seraph of the End has the more typical Shonen action themes.
