Both have ship battles, and share the same art style. Zipang is a lot newer, but Silent Service is still a good watch.

Both contain a naval-heavy setting, which submarines, cruisers, and aircraft carriars to boot. They explore the tensions of the pacific both in World War II (Zipang), and in more recent history (Silent Service).
