Juuni Taisen

Even though both anime look very different, they have many similarities. Both anime are about the zodiac and have 12 characters which are based on the zodiac (in etotama they are all female, in juuni taisen they are mixed male/female).
In both anime the main character has to fight the other zodiacs in order to have her wish granted (the MC of etotama is actually outside the zodiac and her wish is to join it) and thus have plenty of action. The main difference is that juuni taisen is much darker while etotama is less serious.
Both Juuni Taisen and Etotama's characters are based on the 12 chinese Zodiac and have fights between them.
But while Juuni Taisen is serious, darker and most of its characters have tragic backstories, Etotama is comedic, light-hearted, parodies several anime tropes and the characters are colorful.
In Juuni Taisen, the Zodiac representatives fight in a battle royale to have a with granted. In Etotama, the characters are literally the Zodiac spirits and the protagonist (Nyaa-tan) is a minor spirit who wants to join the main 12, and so has to make all of them acknowledge her power by beating them.
