While Hibike! Euphonium isn't centered around romance, I think both have some similar themes such as hiding one's feelings and dealing with the struggles of growing up. Also, the main characters' personalities and interactions remind me of each other (Oumae being similar to Koito and Asuka being similar to Touko). Both shows reveal multiple facets of the main characters' personalities and touch on believable doubts, thoughts, and dreams that people might have in high school.

Though Hibike! Euphonium and Yagate Kimi ni Naru seem to be about pretty different things on the surface level, there actually are a lot of similarities between the two. Both shows seem to have the same sort of feeling while you're watching them, and they both heavily rely on character drama to drive the plot forward. More superficially, both are school-based drama's that place a large focus on a club activity, and both start with the main character's first year of high school.
