Kotarou's whole character really reminded me of Kokkuri MC, with the eccentric way of speaking, acting fine while holding a lot of pain and trauma, others taking care of the MCs even though they are not asked to do so, but both animes have an overall funny and nonchalant vibe despite the occasional emotionally painful moments.

In both anime, the main character are kids who get through the world alone but suddenly the other main character shows up to take care of them like a father or like an older brother. As the story progresses you get to meet other characters that help the main character or simply stay by their side. Both series have a comical and lighthearted tone, with plenty of humour and moments that will make you laugh. Both series also have an emotional undercurrent, with moments of drama and sentimentality that will tug on your heartstrings. Overall both are wholesome and will help after a bad day.
