It has a similar vibe to it. Kid with problems gets dragged into bizarre situations and scenarios while he slowly became a more mature person.
I find FLCL to be more complex both in themes and characters while having similar themes of maturity as Wonder Egg Priority, so, give it a chance

-Both are coming of age stories that feature a cast of characters that talk incoherently and behave like five year olds.
-Both have an unorthodox art style and soundtrack.
-Both shows have incredibly unique premises.
-Both are dogshit.
Both of these animes have strong themes of "coming-of-age" struggles. The characters often process scenarios in ways that are typical during teenage years but may at first seem "over-simplified" as an adult. Both have very colorful, unique art styles, story structures and the characters work through these complex emotions through the allegory of fighting strange monsters.
For these reasons, I feel that watching these shows with an open mind is needed. The confusing nature of theirs struggles seems to reflect how confusing life can be growing up as a young teen. and the character simplicity often fits with their developmental stage. It might be easier
