They both focus heavily on enjoying your time with nature. They have very similar styles of comedy, and are both excellent slice of life shows to unwind to. The music is also very good in both, always matching the atmosphere well. While I would say the characters in Non Non Biyori are more fleshed out, that be partially due to it having more seasons and more content.
Both anime are following the story of young girls living their lives together and having fun. While Hougaku Tenbou Nishi focused on it's fishing niche, NNB instead pretty varied in their activities. However both shows are great for your evening tea.
