Both are in european all-boys boarding schools round the turn of the century, heavy emphasis on sensuality and discovering one's sexuality, unrequited love, and a reoccurring boy vs. men theme.
Both are based on mangas written by Keiko Takemiya and the first bl animes to be ever released, with a sad and bittersweet ending.
