Mecha destruction and overwhelming action scenes, who doesn't love them. While one features a fantasy type setting while the other is more science fiction both deliver in awesome Scenes. Though if you want more than just action, you choose Code Geass, while for only the action, go Knights & Magic.

The Mecha aspect of the show is quite similar, including combat and technical development of the mecha itself.
Also, the mecha are being used in similar fashion.
