These anime share the same premise of taking down a corrupt empire with a group of rebels. Plus, they have an obsession of killing off characters. There are also a lot of action scenes in the two series.

Here we have an anime that is about a rebellious group (Black Knights and Night Raid), who tries to destroy an Empire that they thought was f-ed up. One of their members includes a tsundere (Kallen and Mine) who might have feelings for the MC (Lelouch and Tatsumi) and a stoic girl (CC and Akame) who dresses up similarly too. They also have powerful weapons that they often use throughout the series (Knightmare and Imperial Arms). The black-haired title character (Lelouch and Akame) also has a younger sister (Nunnally and Kurome) that they loved dearly until s**t happens to each other. And also, lets not   read more

The two worlds have similar tragedies BUT they're different enough to keep the stories separate AND interesting. The action scenes are incredible!! Well-suited characters follow a well-planned story. The element that makes Code Geass better than AgK is the setting: the real-world. Evidently, I find interpretations of our future much more interesting than a fictional world and I'm sure you will too. I HIGHLY recommend Code Geass if you're looking for a similar, but much better, show to AgK.

They are both dark fantasy animes, where the main character seems to grow. They are both about a form of revolution where one will kill any needed to help grow their nation.
