Both main characters have to survive in the world that they were not from. They have friends that help and support them along their way. They have groups they control, though one is guild and another is kingdom. Both have somewhat politics included.

Both are "trapped in another world" stories that deal heavily with politics and world-building, to the point of being rather light on action. In both cases, the world the characters in are in dire need of reform, which the characters do by trying to understand what the people need.
The main difference between them is that "Log Horizon" is more light-hearted and has a lot more comedy.
Personally, I prefer "Log Horizon" but anyone who likes isekais that are less action-oriented should enjoy both.
