It has drama with a small amount of comedy, even though Clannad has a disappointing end for many reviewers.
Both series worth watching.
Clannad and the sequel has allot in comment especialy the sequel. there is allot of emotion in it and a true life aspect.
Lots of drama and in depth zoom on how the character(s) feel pain and deal with it (or not) Both is definitely must see.
Both series are about mediocre high school students that are involved in a romantic story that becomes tragedy later on due to certain circumstances. The main characters have a lot in common, also there are several hilarious scenes as well as confessions that make you cry.
Clannad: After Story has more drama but it is well in the same genre.

Both anime have very dramatic romance stories and overuse pathos/melodramatic mecanics in order to stir viewers. Unless, Clannad is most bittersweet and have also good feeling/comedy moments while Kimi ga Nozomu Eien has a"big drama density" which can be very opressing.
Rumbling hearts and Clannad are similar in emotional style and drama.
