Despite the starkly different premises (tanks and music), these two shows are surprisingly similar. For starter, they both have schoolgirl protagonists that are well versed in their respective field but deliberately chose a school that is only mediocre in terms of tankery/music. Despite that, their respective school has a big dream of winning the national tournament. The protagonists are reluctant to join at first, but becoming more committed to the cause gradually. What follows is a story of their struggles to attain that dream.
