Fruits Basket is more about accepting others, trying to get to know each other better, and learning about the personalities of each person.
The Pet Girl of Sakurasou is more about being there for each other, solving issues together and how hard work sometimes doesn't pay off.
Hospitality. Sakurasou and FB start off similarly in one entering a new accommodation. From there a story of drama, life, and love playoff, in what are some really good stories at playing with said themes.
I suppose the synopsis of both should tell you everything different about these two anime, but I would go into them both if you are looking for some good drama or unconventional school life story.
