Both share very similar aspects. The mecha used in IV are fairly similar to the Knightmares of CG in their size and the way they move. It shares a similar theme of rebels rising up against a government, and there are many other obvious similarities along the way. IV is of course, much shorter than CG, but if you liked either anime then you might like the other
Innocent Venus and Code Geass share many similarities. Both have a dystopian future where terrorists try to resist an oppressive ruling class. Both have mechas but are not traditional 'mecha animes' - neither treats mecha battles as the main focus. Lelouch and Suzaku of Code Geass are somewhat similar to Jin and Jo of Innocent Venus, respectively, though their adventures are fairly different. (But all of them are really pretty to look at ;-)) Both animes also involve a mysterious girl who is being chased by the government for a reason that is not revealed until later.
