Well, the graphics. This guy Makoto is very alike to Taichi, Yamato reminds me of Chihaya (the fact that both are very beautiful/cute and they both are kind). I personally liked the both and I think you will too. The main story is quite different but both are very heartwarming stories focuses around friendship and love.
"Chihayafuru" and "My Love Story!!" / "Ore Monogatari!!" are two series adapted by Studio Madhouse surrounding an odd group of high school students and romance.
These two shows share very similar art styles and one of the lead male characters from both show look identical to each other.
Characters have similar designs.
[Ayase, Chihaya looks very similar to two different characters in Ore Monogatari;
Mashima, Taichi looks very similar to the main character's best friend;
and the rest of the artworks and special effects are somehow similar]
Also, both anime shows contain love stories (though they might be polar opposites with regard to this aspect). Ore Monogatari belongs to the Romance genre, but Chihayafuru belongs to the Sport/Josei genre.
