violet Evergarden is maybe the only anime that I rated 10 in myanimelist , which makes it harder for me to accept that this movie is also called violet Evergarden .
(SPOILERS!!!)
first of all the art is amazing as usual , it was the only thing that saved the movie . the sound is good too .
now , let's talk about what was bad .
this story mustn't be a movie , you can call it an OVA or anything but not a movie . usually in movies there is the first part where you get to know the main characters , understand the world
...
they're living in , and the problems they're facing . The second part is where the characters interact with each other , face their problems and have a character development . The last part is the climax where the problems are solved , the characters live happily , and the movie ends .
while here nothing of that happens . the first part was good at first seeing violet interact with Isabella and I thought that this is going to be the movies main problem , helping Isabella who wants to be free and hates her life , or helping her to meet with her little sister . Yet the whole first part was only about Violet and Isabella doing things together ( which actually , allow me to say , made think I was watching some Yuri stuff . I'm not a fan of this genre , and I only watched some episodes of a GL anime years ago , yet I still had this vibes that their interacting with each other was a little different than two girls getting to know each other and become friends ) and some scenes where we see how much violet is the perfect girl that can do anything and everything .
The second part is where the movie started to become bad , and I mean the little sister's part . it was meaningless , was only there for nothing but to add time . most of the scenes weren't needed , the ending would be nice if we saw the little girl gets emotional after hearing the letter her older sister wrote for her and then deciding to become a postman , then we see her after years when she gets older that she actually became one .
but no , what we saw was her delivering letters with Violet or Benedict , then delivering a letter to her older sis , then we see that she was adopted and that's it . that's how the movie ends , sorry , what is supposed to be a movie .
now , talking about her delivering her letter to Isabella , which is the last scene , I have one thing to say : worst scene ever .
There is nothing that can explain why taylor hid in the trees and never appeared in front of her sister who was separated from her for lot's of years . you see , i'm 15 years old and i'm 100% sure that i'd run the fastest I can and hug my older sis ( I don't have one ) If I were to be separated from her , so how could a little girl whose maybe not even 10 years old not do so ?
now , because I talked a lot , the last things I want to talk about is two characters . the first one is the blond girl who I don't remember her name , who wanted to befriend Isabella , she was meaningless , I don't even know what her role was , if she disappeared nothing in the story would change . ( funny fact : to show you how much meaningless this character was , when I searched about her in MAL she wasn't even in the character list , so I don't even know her name ) .
The second character is benedict , the blond postman . it's not that he's is bad or something , it's just that the movie focused suddenly on his character without any sign or warning or whatever the hell you call it .
we saw him delivering letters then boom ! he became an important character in the movie !
he wasn't even a important character in the series or the first part of the movie . maybe if the movie focused on him from the beginning , shown us a different side of him , and made him a main character in the movie , that'll maybe would be better .
" we deliver happiness "
the last thing I want to say is , even thought I didn't like the movie , I liked what it was trying to say
" Even if you were separated forever , as long as you call the names , you'll never forget each other "
