heh - i dont know how to really explain it. when i finished watching the movie in an anime film series at my college, i felt like i wasted my time. it did affect me emotionally but i wanted to immediately watch something more 'happy' so that i could forget about this movie. and i wasnt the only one to feel this way. several people around me were like, "wtf... this movie is... well..... depressing...."
maybe depressing is the best way to describe it. now, grave of the fireflies or evangelion leave you feeling very emotional after watching them - but those are SO different - in that they're thought-provoking and they leave you with 'something'. voices of a distance star leaves you with sadness, but it's empty sadness. basically it leaves you with nothing but a bad feeling
...wow i've basically wrote a review on your wall, lol
hey. i agree with your "voices of a distance star" review - but i didnt like that movie very much. it annoyed me. perhaps i should watch it again to get a difference perspective.
the movie moved me as well but not in a good way. i felt "bad" afterwards.... but not the same "bad" you feel after watching evangelion..... i dunno.... hard to explain
