Yeah I know, that was like my whole summer. I am actually distracted by a VN right now, but I mean it's basically Anime so it's all good. Also Mirai Nikki is a lot of fun.
Aria the animation, natural, origination(in that order). One of my favorite anime of all time. The story is completely unique and captivating. Also the setting. OMG a venice on mars? Doesn't get any better than that.
Bakuman. An anime about making manga and anime. Another completely unique anime. It is one of my favorites. I ended up watching all of the seasons in under a week. I couldn't stop. xD
Accel world. I watched this at the same time as Sword Art online and I honestly enjoyed it more than SAO. A lot of people don't like it because the protagonist is short and chubby but if you can get past that its a great anime.
xxxHolic. My favorite supernatural anime. The animation is a bit weird but the storyline is amazing. There is a crossover anime called Tsubasa reservoir chronicles but you can watch this without watching that.
Steins Gate. My favorite scifi and one of my favorite anime. It really is amazing. I wont get much into details but it's like the doctor who of anime.
Natsume Yuujinchou. I love this anime! The storyline and artwork are both beautiful.

How's DBK compared to the original? I've read it's just a remastered and condensed version of the original. Know anything about it? I might give it a try.

Cool I was about to watch Cowboy Bebop too. That has a great soundtrack as well. Not sure about dragon ball z. That's super long, I guess that I'd be in for the long haul on that one. I used to have a tumblr where I posted music a lot. I wonder where that thing is....
Saosin is old school post-hardcore. I think that EP came out in 2003. Wait till you get to the acoustic songs at the end... they're fucking great. That vocalist is only on that EP btw... so don't expect much else from the rest of their discog. It's just okay imo.
Some of the episodes are recaps so it's not a full 26. I watched it subbed, I thought the voice acting was better. Do you know any good dubs I should watch? I'm watching Welcome to the NHK and the dub on that is pretty good. You might like it. It's about this shut-in that's trying to change his ways. I think it's funny. How the characters get angry and the main character's social ineptitude, hilarious! I have a terrible memory with things as well lol. I needed to join a site like this so I don't forget too.
I'm not sure what kind of anime I prefer yet. I'm pretty new to anime. Probably the same for what I look for in movies. Deep philosophical themes or something really dark. I like dark movies and books that deal with misfortune and death. Although I love a good action flick too.
Also I checked out your tumblr. I have a music rec for you based on DGD playing. You may of heard of them but they're really good. Old Saosin with Anthony Green. He's a phenomenal vocalist.
