Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda (Thats a mouthful :) is now my favorite anime tied with kimi no na wa. It is movie that is very well thought out and well, at least when I was watching it hap me thinking about things in my own life surrounding the main theme, that words can hurt people. from an analytical perspective the movie is a masterpiece of art, symbolism, story, sound and character development. I shows use things that are never really shown in anime and make the average viewer really think about what they are watching, but more on that in the long review section

First I do my standard TL:DR blurb
Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda is a movie that will make you think about things that you may not have thought about before. It uses symbolism and its art to achieve this goal and boy does it do it well. I don't usually talk about sound but I think its appropriate given the movies content, all I can say is that is very well done and at a level that I think rivals some of the best film I've seen so far. If you want a heart moving film that is going to make you think about what you do IN REAL LIFE then this is a good movie for you.

My "longer" review
Before we go on I want to say that the rest of this may be clouded by my own emotions and experiences. I think I did a good job being analytical above so I think I have some room for this, anyway lets move on. Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda really moves me on a vey personal level particularly Jun Naruse the main character. I can relate to her on a very personal level, In fact its strange how close to real life this film is for me. My parents got divorced when I was younger for the same reasons that Jun's where I found out about my mother cheating on my father and, being young and naive told my father everything. Of course my parents got a divorce and I blamed myself for all of it. After it happened I found that I couldn't speak anymore. Wether it was because of me making the effort to not or I just sealing my voice away forever. I was mute for 8 long years. Of course I couldn't see that it wasn't my fault and I never really connected with anyone for fear of not wanting to hurt anyone else. I was bullied but couldn't stand up for myself and I was ignored by everyone who knew about my "condition" This lasted 8 years until I was 16 then someone came into my life who would change that forever we can call him my Takumi if your cringe hasn't already boiled over :)
He should me that I could get close to people and not have to run away (not without lack of trying though) I wish my ending was as nice as Jun's though this person is still with and let me regain my voice but I still can't talk to people that I don't know or have been terrible to me in the past even though I then have apologized. I still try with all my heart but still can't bring myself to do it But I keep trying everyday and Jun is now a really big role model for me :) As you can tell this review hit me very close to home and may have influenced my review a little (okay maybe a lot) but I think thats all the more reason to watch it, so you can know the stories of people like and think about how Important speech is to you.

I really like everything Shinkai Makoto makes. He really knows how to convey a message and a serious one at that. Everyone of his films has a symbol in it and its very apparent Kotonoha no Niwa. If you want to get into Makoto's films then this is a good one to start with.

The Long version
Alright Lets get going. I have a deep liking for all of Shinkia Makoto from both a critical and emotional standpoint. Critically all of Makoto's films are always really well thought out and the art is always fantastic. I personally an always relate to his content or at least the messages that it always have in it. There's always something that I can personally relate to. wether it be a love that I can't have, or the wanting to get away from it all, I can always personally relate on a deep personal level. Anyway it's time to move on to the official review :)
Kotonoha no Niwa is a short movie and I mean quite short its only about 40 minutes yet it manages to impact me more then a whole 12 episode series. It does this by not letting anything slip, Its animation is fantastic and the story is, at least on the outside not as good as shows such as Kanon or Kimi no na Wa of the same writer. but on the inside it is a work of art full of symbolism and hidden messages that you need to watch the film at least more then once to really understand. I've seen other reviews say that the story is disjointed and doesn't flow. This is the same thing I hear about lucky star. Its not about whats on top its more about what you can find if you look a bit harder.
Kotonoha no Niwa is perfectly animated for what it is. The rain is beautiful as well as everything else in the show and the voice acting and sound is great. There's not much more I can say about the art of this film.
Characters, though there are only two that you need to worry about they are both very well thought out and work perfectly together for the story being told. they both work together and against each other. and this dichotomy work very well to progress the story.
Overall this film is great and I would recommend it to anyone looking to watch an anime film. It's a film that makes you really think about what its message really is as it can be very misleading, I won't tell you this message as its best discovered for yourself. Well get going :)

What to say about SAO 2, hmmm well lets start of by saying that I did not enjoy the first one nor did I hate it just because it was cool. I like to give everything a chance even though I knew that this one was going to be a doozie. Well lets begin.
TL:DR version
If your either a viewer in the younger demographic or just a casual anime watcher you will probably enjoy this show quite a bit, and that's not a bad thing since well that's who it was designed for. It's aesthetics are quite good as well as its battle scenes,

If you like small gun skirmishes you'll like a lot of this anime.
The rest of this review contains minor spoilers though nothing that isn't explained in the first 3 episodes
The long Version
Alright now that I have got that out of the way its time to start my "long" segment (If you can call it that). Too start I want to talk about the one thing that kept me from dropping this anime Sinon. Sinon is a nice change of pace for the SAO series as she feels more thought out then most other characters in the series her backstory is a bit extravagant yet it keeps it believable for a viewer. Her motivation is sound from very early on which is contrary to what we had going on for Kirito in the first season something that made him, at least in my eyes very hard to relate to. Sinon is much like Lizbeth in the first series, a character who you like because she is different then most of the other girls in this series. There strong thought out and have some real emotion in them that doesn't seem planned or fake. It's a shame they both fall into the Kirito rejected women's club. All in all Sinon is what kept my Character rating above the overall. I could keep talking about Lizbeth and Sinon for paragraphs however I must move on or risk this becoming too long.
The story...... well It wasn't great. The biggest problem I have with SAO 2's story is that it could have been so much better when I found out that death gun is a former laughing coffin member I thought to my self "Maybe SAO did it right this time however what they do with this, honestly stroke of inspiration is acceptable at best. i rate the story so poorly mostly because of what it could have been but i chose to throw it all away. and that saddens me.
Art, I know many reviewers go into the art of an anime extensively. I however don't choose to. Being an artist myself its hard for me to call art bad just cause I most of the time can relate to the work the artist put into it regardless of how bad the story is. In SAO's case the art is quite good as well as the sound. Nothing seems out of place and the seen seems to be smooth and not choppy. It is pretty average in these departments and well that's all that can be said.
Finally we come to enjoyment, I enjoyed some parts of SAO 2. The fight scenes were good and the first episode of Kirito actually being in GGO I genuinely enjoyed. Most scenes where Kirito and Sinon are in the same place are quite good and seem to flow better the average.
All in all SAO is just a meh show it does nothing amazing and does some to a bunch of things wrong depending on who you ask. It really fails in a department I really care about which is story, something that lower my rating of this show by a fair amount of points. Its art and sound are nice yet most of it character are not very deeply thought out. However I can see why so many people like this show, Its a pretty average show for an audience that isn't looking for anything astounding so it has it's nietch and well that's all I can really say about SAO 2. Never in all my time of watching anime have I been so moved by a story. There's something about this one that just makes remember things from some time ago (as is a theme of the movie)
TL:DR version
Kimi no Na wa is a fantastic movie from both a objective and a personal standpoint the way the movie uses imagery and symbolism is astounding as well as its way of sudeley telling you about the movie's plot before it reveals it to you (If your looking.)

is utterly astounding, It's subtle way of conveying more mature themes through the use of imagery is something that I enjoy in anime, however you don't need to grasp all these themes in order to have a great time with this movie. I think the thing that most grips me about this film is its way of making you expect something to happen, and then totally mislead you but you still end up feeling like that's what you wanted. Some of us can probably relate to the characters in the film, either it be with Taki's always frantic schedule or with Miyamizu's completely boring life. Point is everyone has someone they can relate to. (I wont go into the characters that much as there development is quite important in the story and would dive into spoiler territory) The Development of these characters is one of the best I've seen in anime, pretty much ever.
Kimi no Na wa has stolen the top spot away from full metal Alchemist and rightly so. I must admit I never thought I'd see the day where something would top it, I new it would come though and whatever did would be fantastic and well I was right. THis anime does such a phenomenal job with everything in it and I wouldn't even hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
