Pretty dark themes. Very mature, viewer discretion is advised.
So far, the plot gives me a sort of Juujika no Rokunin vibe, but with a faster pace. Unlike Juujika, the antagonist group feels less intimidating besides the ringleader, Maria is also more intimidating, given her status as an adult and how devoted she is to her son. (Maria is very scary and pretty.)
The art is very pretty, as you can tell by the cover. There is some fanservice i dont feel is necessary, but adds to the "messed-up-ness" of the manga.
The content is very despairing and dark. The story feels hopeless and bleak. There doesnt
...
seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel- i dont expect a happy ending, but the tags already suggest that huh.
Also, the husband is a cop, so maybe some death-note type police-avoiding will happen or he will help her avenge their son?
Pretty standard tragedy stuff, I recommend if youve read Juujika, but for the faint of heart, i dont reccomend, even I had a hard time stomaching some scenes.
Spoilers!
As mentioned before, ompared to Juujika, Maria no Danzai seems to have a faster pacing, given how a small fry gets game-ended by chapter 5. This makes me expect a short manga?

DISCLAIMER: YANDERES, A LOT OF THEM, reader discretion is advised
first off, the art is pretty.
Haha everyone is a yandere, the maid is a yandere, the janitor is a yandere, the teacher is a yandere, the chef is a yandere, the gardener is a yandere, EVERYONE IS A YANDERE. and the FL is naïve.
Volume 1 was wholesome but after that, every chapter was just raising more red flags.
So far, its just about a kind-hearted FL who unknowingly picked up a ton of yanderes.
I dunno if this will be adressed later on but the OG FL's character makes no sense, like its shown that she was a
...
pure-hearted kid who would help save people SINCE THE AGE OF 3, but in the story, shes portrayed as a villainess who would bully the heroine... it just doesnt make sense! plothole?

THE ART STYLE IS SO DECEPTIVE,
For a manwha with such a cutesy cover, its dark as fuck. These 14-15 year olds have LIFETIMES of trauma. For a taste of how messed up this manwha is, read Eva's (Genevieve) character description. The plot is really dense and heavy, for a regressor, Lali is extremely in the dark- she knows next to nothing but that really isn't her fault as she had been intentionally left in the dark about everything.
One of the best parts of this manwha is the characters, EVERYONE has a backstory and has some depth to them- there are clear driving forces behind
...
their actions, even if they are dicks, I can understand their actions and how their backstory sort of justifies their actions? Like, none of the characters actions are motivated by shallow reasons like the jealous rival tropes in other manwha. One character I think is well written is Riche, a "friend" who gets exposed as fake as fuck, went from being upset about not having rights as a woman and treated as a pawn by her father to adopting her father's misogynistic views and Lali calls her out on it. She really was a product of her environment. Another thing, Riche IS a jealous rival but its not explicitly shown, you can infer that her hate towards Lali comes from having everything she doesnt- a happy family, freedom, and the ability to choose her own future. Riche is forced to play the perfect daughter and to hide her feelings by her father, in comparison, Lali has everything she wants, and it mustve been torturous being forced to pretend to be her friend. On the surface though, Riche acts agonistic towards Lali for mainly another reason, which I guess I wont spoil cause its a pretty big spoiler.
I think another thing this manwha did really well was how Lali's emotions are expressed. Shes all nice and kind on the surface but hates Rupert to the point of contemplating homicide, and when Rupert's upbringing is revealed, she still holds resentment towards him even if she pities him and doesn't immediately forgive him. and that feels refreshing in a shoujo, the characters organically and slowly develop their feelings for each other.
One thing you will soon find out is that there is nobody you can trust EXCEPT RUPERT, and that fact is still hilarious to me, Ive been lulled into a false sence of security so many times. Spoilers: The aunt. The aunt did the biggest 180. Like we see her with her husband the grand duke, and wow theyre so lovey dovey, she kisses him, and he holds her hand, yadda yadda PDA. Lali wasnts to steals some document from the duke and the aunts like oh, I dont care if you want to open the large vault, the password is his beloved (referring to herself). Oh thats weird, her name doesnt work... hmm... S-L-U- *click*
That was when I knew I couldnt trust anyone AND I STILL GOT GOT IN THE NEXT SEASON
