I am getting accustomed to the MAL UI & features. I neither find, seek nor even really remember the majority of what I've come across throughout the years, so my list'll remain inaccurate for the time being. I also wont bother to rate something that I skimmed through half a decade ago, until I rewatch such a series it will stay unrated and unmarked on my profile.
I seldom finish shows that I dislike. There're hundreds and potentially even thousands of artistically driven adaptations that've stayed true to their source material, and I've adhered to the notion of outright avoiding unentertaining outliers as I've come to face them. I hardly submit shows that I've watched halfway through and then eventually dropped, cause I'm forgetful and often move on to the next without updating MAL much thought. This is especially the case with single cour slice of life/romcoms, considering I might watch ten episodes during school hours and then either refuse the awaiting half-assed conclusion or just likely forget to follow through and move on to another. Some of the shows in "watching" might stay on hiatus for weeks or even months at a time before I pick em up again. In my "plan to watch" I've selected shows that I thought looked interesting from MAL alone, I know every and each classic and modern gem that I am missing besides.
Anime favourites display multiple shows that've left everlasting impacts during my growing up. For longer shows the bodies of work I've chosen represent each series as a whole, standalone movies I don't even take into consideration as they don't hold a candle to fully fledged-out franchises. My favourite anime & enterprise of all time is Evangelion, and the subsequent show (Re:Zero) would be the one that initially roped me into anime as a medium. Third spot has been reserved for One Piece, and as far as I'm concerned the rest of my list just follows suit according to my ratings. Besides these three mentioned I don't value or assess any shows that hold the same rating differently, and there are no "high 9's" or "low 7's" or any vague shit alike. What you see is what you get.
Characters on the other hand I haven't really put much thought into. This beautiful depiction of a fair, blue-eyed blonde character (Ryo Asuka, Griffith, Haschwalth, Johan Liebert) is what I've long considered to be my favourite primary characteristic in anime, and oftentimes it's the antagonists within series whom fit this criteria and also happen to be begrudgingly well written villains on the side. Show me any character alike and fat chance that I'm to fall in love (platonically). Characters obnoxiously gung-ho about their ideals will not make my list. It's not that I'm expressly in favor of morally grey characters; though; far from it: I've just grown to value this certain serenity in people, one rarely reflected by characters in anime. This can be a defining trait for a character or an overarching ambience, so long as the show is greatly affected by it's presence.
I am male myself and generally gravitate more toward male characters when thinking of my favourites. I don't include women nor girls as not to confuse whom I like strictly as characters with the ones whom I'm attracted to. My list of favourites would be roughly 65/35 in favor of male characters were I given the chance to expand it to a hundred.
As of February 2026 I have not read any manga or even opened a light novel or a webtoon not once in my life. Where I live the selection of manga is meagre and accessibility to it is limited (talking about physical copies, as I am a man of principle and avoid reading off my phone) This happens to also be cause the majority of my free time is spent on consuming and discussing music or animated media, and aside the mandatory literature chosen from a tiny, localized selection in school I rarely even read in the first place.
There're a lot of folks on here that turn their profiles into genuine spectacles, I'm not one of em. Only reason I really felt the need to even join up here is to keep myself up with what I'm watching, as updating a physical list is rather cumbersome and I can't check on it with such ease. Site has proved very convenient even outside of that; I've began developing a proper interest towards seasonals as my years on here have come to pass.
Anime is my most consumed and enjoyed media by a landslide, but I hardly discuss seasonals or even older classics with people outside MAL (you'll rarely see me take part in discourse here either).
