This Anime was a fantastic story of trust along with a beautiful relationship story. Essentially a guy who has no job and shoves others to the side to play a game called Btooom on his game's console where he eventually finds love with another player but then he's thrown onto a random island where he has to play the game he is so good at for real.
Story - 9/10
I have to say the story was a simple one but the writers made it work in the sense that your playing to survive an island of other people who are out trying to kill you in
...
order to get home. It's very similar to the Hunger Games just with few twists here and there but overall and very fun Anime to watch.
It was quite slow, to begin with, and if someone was not really into Anime I could see them stop watching it maybe 2 episodes in but after 3-4 episodes, it starts to get good.
The relationship between Ryouta and Himiko was so beautiful and sweet it made my heart melt with emotions, it's just a shame how it ended.
Art - 9/10
The art was top quality, whoever was in the charge of bringing those characters to life done a smashing job. They were beautifully designed and animated, no question in my mind about that.
Sound - 9/10
The sound was again brilliant, loved the main opening to the Anime, and sound effects during the animation fitted perfectly during romantic scenes and also action-packed scenes.
Character - 9/10
Now, this is a big one to cover, the characters in this anime were designed and executed brilliantly. I loved the chemistry between them all and how they all had a small connection to others on the island.
First I'm gonna start off with Ryouta and Himiko, of course, Himiko was a beautiful female character, cute short blonde hair with bright blue eyes always seemed to make me happy when the camera was directly looking at her during some scenes. It was quite disturbing when she got mistreated and abused by a few others on the island, especially from one person who is just absolutely heartless and disgusting to the core but nevertheless.
Himiko tried to end her own life in order to remain 'pure' which is very understandable but of course, all that changed when she meets Ryouta.
Now for Ryouta, what a guy, honestly such a kind-hearted gentleman. He was trying to do everything to survive and starts to fall in love with Himiko which was beautiful and when Himiko was in danger he risked his own life to go on a solo rescue mission which again was sweet and adorable. Of course, by this time, Himiko doesn't want any men touching her as she doesn't trust any of them but, she slowly starts to trust Ryouta.
Ryouta was the type of guy who played his games console 24/7 always playing Btooom and he eventually finds the love of his life but in reality, this, however, changes, as he's thrown onto the island where he has to play Btooom for real but also his true love, is also on the island and they eventually meet up. He's a hardcore strategist and survivor and will do anything to protect himself or others he truly loves and cares about.
Enjoyment - 9/10
Yeah, it's a very fun and joyful watch, highly recommended if you want something short and sweet to watch late a night with a special someone. or alone, just depends if you have found your love-life partner, I know I haven't yet :(
Overall - 9/10
I would give this a 10/10 it's just a very short series and since it was released back in 2013 with no signs of a season 2 arriving, so for now it remains as a 9/10. I would highly recommend this to any of my followers or friends who like a good romantic action-packed lovable anime, like I said it's just a shame that it ended and a season 2 is no longer in the pipeline.
Never mind though, give it a watch and I assure you, you won't be disappointed.
Anyway, if you liked reading this review, give a like and a comment if you wish. Would love to know what others think about this anime or if you have any questions about my review.
That's all for now, thanks for reading!
