With nowhere else to vent, I'm just going to vent here and ask why the hell do anime companies have such a hard on for animating light novels nowadays? There are great light novels and their adaptations like Durarara, the Monogatari series, and others, but aside from the few good ones the rest are just either garbage or meh. They are always very different compared to the usual generic anime formula, but being different does not always make something good. Danmachi is for instance a pretty unique anime, yet it feels so generic in it's presentation.
Edit from December, 2017: Jesus, I wrote the above rant a while ago. It's sad how it's actually far more prevalent now than ever, there's even more Light Novel Adaptations, and they somehow suck even more.
