It took me a while to finish this show, for multiple reasons. One of the reason was I could not stand the characters and direction it was going in till episode 9. My friend said it will get better in time and after a month I got back to it and thankfully it got a lot better. It still had its problems but it got somewhat more enjoyable. I'll go why I hated it but I'll also try to keep it as spoiler free as possible. So if it doesn't make that much sense I apologize in advance.
Story 8/10: The
...
story in here is really interesting. This is one of the elements I enjoyed the most. It contains a lot of tragedy for a lot of the characters and it did go into a lot of unexpected areas. Especially at the end, I didn’t see it coming but it did bring up the rating I would have given it. It is also very memorable, that I can promise.
Art 7/10: There are a lot of images that can go to a high level. Yes there are a lot of deaths scenes but there are also rapes, abuse, and creep out stalker moments. I mean it does help better understand where the characters are coming from and it is better to have a visual add. But wow on what they showed, this isn't one of the reason I hated this show, but it should be mentioned.
Sound 4/10: The sound in this honestly wasn't that memorable. To get a memorable moment for the images that I had mention early they have to give it the right tone to give it an extra oomph to make it much more powerful. To me it felt like they had a basic tone for this. I mean they do it right a few times, but really it isn't worth talking about. Also no one's VO stood over the top to me. Am just saying.
Character 5/10: Okay this is where I hated this show for the characters. Everyone here is insane, without a doubt. They so over the top it is annoying and the main character we follow is a guy that cries at least 2 or 3 times in a single episode, and there are 26 episodes. Yukiteru Amano is the main character and I started the show with "hating him more than a salt free diet" to "I hate him but I can tolerate him." He does show some growth in the show but it is very, very little and most of the time I was yelling "Grow a pair and do something." The only character I enjoyed seeing was Minene Uryuu, or Ninth in the show. Her development was much better done and she has real good qualities. It was sad that her role was "supporting character" but it was a large support role, but it does in bits.
Enjoyment 6/10: If I had written this review when I stopped at episode 8 the enjoyment and overall would be much lower, but when I got to episode 9 it did pick up and I did enjoyed it a bit more as the story did progress in certain directions that I didn't see coming. However, most of the characters still needed better work or development. Aside from the end and a few good plot twists, I was mildly entertained but not overly entertained.
Overall 7/10: If you can survive all the way to episode 9 then you may as well see the entire thing. They do have some good plot twist and images early on (one of which is really, really creepy), but it isn't as strong as in the later episodes to me. But if you are into insane characters and an even crazier plot twist, then I would recommend this to you.

This is a very dark anime with a lot of suspense and unbelievable plot twist. It'll keep you guessing till the very end. This anime is supposedly a horror anime, and don't get me wrong there is a lot of horror elements, but this is really a suspenseful anime.
Story 9/10: The story of "Another" is about a curse that had existed for nearly 30 years and this curse is killing people, Final Destination style. Unlike the movies it is unpredictable. Also this is better than the movies since there aren’t any useless squeals. However, towards the very end of the
...
show the story and the characters start to act a little stupid. It is still suspenseful in its own way but it just losses it's sense. For a better ending I would recommend the manga version that is more sensible.
Art 7/10: Like I mention in the story section, this is about a curse that kills people. So the art for some of the deaths HAS to be good. No disappointment here. The first few deaths really felt my jaw hanging. My friend and I still talk about the fourth death, the first suicide; it still shocks us on how well it was done. There were also these dream sequences that really gave the show a good visual for the tone of this. However, the only problem I had with this in a few of the episode it seems like some of the lip syncing was off. I caught it in the first few episodes but it is there.
Sound 10/10: Aside from lip syncing problem, everyone does a great job in this. The VO is phenomenal; I really feel that these people are in fear for their lives. They do a great job in giving the tone of the moment and their exact feelings. There isn't any English dub version (I honestly don’t know if the United States plan to), however that is no reason to put this down. What really set this to the height is the background music. This really sells the tension of the show. Nothing really bad needs to happen but when that music is on I was afraid of what was going to happen. This certainly gives the feel for the entire show.
Characters 8/10: Despite the characters mostly dying, some of them do have good development. Also they are all unique. They all have the same fear, but they are able deal with it in very good ways. Lots of the characters don't get as many happy resolves, but they are still memorable. That being said, not a lot of them stand out, but the right amount does. It knows what characters to focus on and when the characters do die I really do care about it.
Enjoyment 9/10: This is definitely one of the anime that stands out the most in its genre. The ending to the series is most definitely the biggest shocks that I have seen in a long time. The only part to I didn't like was the lead up to the ending, but it was still good. One of the things I liked most was the end credits, better then the opening and has a settle tone to the show.
Overall 8/10: I would recommend this to anyone that is up for a suspenseful ride, but if you are unsatisfied with the ending then read the manga version. It ends on a better note; however the anime still stands well on its own.

The only reason that I read this is because people have been saying that this is very different from the anime version. After reading it, I have to agree with it. Now I'll try not to get into too much spoilers of both the anime and manga versions, but I'll mention the ones that I felt stood out the most in the difference between the two.
Story 8/10: The story in this is very good and very original (to my knowledge at this time). It is about a curse that has occurred 26 years before the main story takes place. It being
...
a curse it doesn't give misfortune in a person’s life (by misfortune I mean a terribly life), it just kills them. The author, Yukito Ayatsuji, does a fantastic job on giving suspense and great plot twists. However, since I saw and read “Another” I would have to prefer the anime. Only until the summer camp trip arc, it is at the very end of both. Only that arc, why isn't because it is somewhat happier but it makes a lot more sense. And by happier I mean better closure for most of the characters.
Art 7/10: This I had a little bit of a hard time because the character designs seem a bit off, but I didn't know if I should put that under the character category or this. I decide to go with character. The reason I gave this a 7 was because the some of the scenes didn't seem right. There is this one picture that says "slow movement" it doesn't need to spell it out for us, if it has no action or tragically is happening it would seem unnecessary to me. It was just explaining the curse; it doesn't need hand moving slowly.
Character 6/10: This is where the difference between the anime and manga is seen. Aside from the two main characters, Mei Misaki and Kouich Sakaibara, every character is different. They act different; they have different roles, and have a different look. An example of this is Tatsuji Chibiki the school librarian (There are a lot of others, but with him I felt like it was less of a spoiler). In the anime he is an old man with long hair and has a lot of wrinkles on his face. He is also a very serious man about the curse and other than that little is known about him. In the manga version he is an old man with short hair and has a few more wrinkles. He is also very serious about the curse but also has a passion for cooking. There isn't as much character development done here as in the anime but I do like the endings a bit better than the anime's version, expect for Tomohiko Kazami. Only cause I liked him in the anime version a bit better and his ending.
Enjoyment 9/10: Despite the difference it is still a good read. It'll keep you guessing till the end. It is 20 chapters long, some really vary in number of pages, but a quick read.
Overall 8/10: I do like how this ends better than the anime, but the lead up to the ending that is where the anime really shines. Which to start off with first, that is a coin flip question. But I would recommend this to anyone that would want a good short suspenseful story.

The best way I can describe Bakemonogatari is that it is really really weird. Their is literary no better way to describe this show. And by weird it throws in a lot of random bits. An example without going into too much spoilers is that it clears the screen and then throws the word red on a red screen. Also in episode 3 I think it was, they went into this conversation it was funny the first minute, then it got awkward, then it got weird. Am aware that might not make too much sense, I don't want to spoil
...
anything.
Story 6/10: Like I said the show is weird. It is 15 episodes long and it does take time to develop each character in their own way. That alone is one of the best things of this show. It also tackles folk tales that does have interesting affects towards these characters. It also does move in a good enough pace, but not that good of a pace. However, it does throw in a lot of random bits and it somehow is related to the plot in a way, but it is too random for my taste.
Art 6/10: The art really sells the weirdness. It goes all over the place, I realize that in anime it never really is the same "frame," but it just does way too many jumps that gave me a headache. Best way I can explain it is that someone is recording someone walking down the sidewalk but it was record in 10 different angles. It would constantly switch between these angles at any given moment. That is the best I can explain the scene transactions. While it isl still very unique, too many jumps. Also it felt like some of the scenes were being emo, mix it in with a non-tone line it felt like it was being emo simple because it could. However, the action scene were over the top and that really worked for it, and surprisingly not that many scene jumps for that.
Sound 5/10: The sound was average. Nothing really stood out for me till the end of the show. Also when the scenes jump the sounds the scenes intent but VO would stay the same. When the transactions stop or slows down that is when the mood of the VO changes other then that it is always the same. However, it still works with the show. Currently their are only Japanese and Korean audio no English dub, but I don't see it being in English anytime soon.
Characters 7/10: The best part of the show is the characters. They are all unique and they all have this tragic pain that is real. Realistic ones are love and loneliness, their is also something with a cult but that's a 50/50 thing, but it still works with adding depth to the character. It also shows a great way that the characters deal with the pain to become a better person. Their development is by far the perks of this show.
Enjoyment 4 /10: The show is a bit out there for me to enjoy. It does have some good elements to it, but it just too out there for me.
Overall 5/10: I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I didn't really liked this show at first, if you can get past the second opener then you should be able to last throughout the show.

I am a big fan of Steins;Gate and when I found out that their a manga mainly focus on Suzuha I was excited, it answered a few questions but they add a few things that didn't needed to be added.
Story 6/10: In the show it involves with time travel, and with that the characters do change simple because time has changed. With this it focus on the first time we meet Suzuha and her journey. I really liked that. We also understand more of which she is coming from while the show is taking place it really adds depth to her.
...
The reason that the story scored low was because they added a antagonist that I personally thought was useless. The antagonist only added plot holes to the series that made no sense.
Art 9/10: It is a manga series, it's always good, not over the top but still good.
Character 8/10: We get to see more of the characters that we love from the show. The main reason that I read this was just to see Suzuha's mother, it didn't disappoint. They match the personalities of the anime series perfectly and I was happy to see them all. Except for the antagonist, no real point in having expecting the first 2 chapters. After that it was just stupid. Would of given a 10/10 if it wasn't for that.
Enjoyment 7/10: The only reason I read was to get more depth of the characters from the anime, didn't disappoint (aside from my complaint). And the moments that you know are coming it still manages to make it really good.
Overall 7/10: It is good, but I would only recommend this after you have seen the anime, otherwise it won't make that much sense and it will spoil a few things for you.

Elfen Lied is a dark mature anime. In the first 3 minutes their are about 8 or more bloody death scenes. And when I say bloody I mean bloody. This has some mix points but they are high and I'll try to go into as little spoilers as possible.
Story 6/10: As mention this is a dark mature anime with a whole lot of death, but it does have a lot of heart. Their is barely anything funny in this show and that's great. When the show is sad you really feel it and understand it. That being said, I
...
would of give it 8 or 9, but how the anime series ended just really pisses me off. It left me with too many unanswered questions and their wasn't as much closure as I had hoped. Every time I think about it just pisses me off.
Art 8/10: Also as mention earlier their is a lot of blood, by the bucket load. Also considering that this original aired back in the summer of 2004. Their isn't as much gore (and what I mean is internal organs and what not, their are only heads, arms, legs, and stuff like that) it still amazes me that they went that bloody in every episode. Their is nudity, female nudity. Their isn't a lot and if you get horny off that, then you seriously need some help.
Sound 7/10: Okay their is an overuse of certain background musics, but it really does help set the mood. And the moods are usually sad and bloody death. Common yes, but does raise some of the tension. During the many death scenes the sounds doesn't hold back. It throws the sounds you expect and sometimes a little more. Their is an English dub version of this back in 2007. True be told I was surprise that they took this because America did try censor this, that they would censor the entire thing. However, they did finish the series and no surprise the English VO isn't that good. Some doesn't match the characters that well and they also don't have as much emotion as the original VO.
Characters 8/10: The main story revolves around around Lucy/Nyu (not going to say why she has two names you'll just have to watch but it is explained quickly) and Kohta. You will be able to understand where they are coming from and what happens to them through out the series does have a lot of good plot twist which I enjoyed. They also showed a lot of good supporting characters and they all do have interesting back stories. Which is also why it pissed me off about how they ended their stories. I just felt like they could of gone into something more with them.
Enjoyment 7/10: If I had to pick one thing that I loved the most out of this it would have to be the opening credits of this series. The artwork and music really hit a strong meaning for the show. To me it was saying that the Lucy/Nyu is beautiful and tragic character. She wants a positive meaning in life but could never have it. Next would be the characters I did enjoy seeing who they are and what they could become.
Overall 7/10: It is a good anime. Lots of good plot twist, bloody deaths, and a fabulous opening credit. However, original VO is the way to go English Dub Actors aren't has good yet. It would of gotten a higher rating if it just went to like an additional 3 - 5 episodes longer. If they did that, they could of been better able to resolve the series. Again, my personal opinion but that is the way I see it. And if you can get past the ending, you'll really enjoy this.

Okay, base on the point system from part one I gave straight 10s. Not because am a super fan-boy or anything, but because I felt like that is what it deserves. It is able to shine in every episode in any way that it can. It can be happy, sad, funny, but never really stupid.
Story: Like any show, the main elements are story and characters. The art and sound can either support or hamper them. In this it supports it. Not to go into too spoilers, or any really. It is well written. It finds a way
...
to make everything important. Minor details that I thought didn't matter turned out to be important, an the already important details actually has a deeper meaning. The story can be random at times, but it does a way that really flows. And for random moments to have a flow, it isn't a easy task.
Art: They are unique to every anime in a way. With technology improving, the art is only going to get better. Here everything has a certain style. All characters has their own style. Everything else fits in, it has a good style to where people fit in the surroundings but don't get lost in it. As for the animation aspect, it fits. It only has one animation flow, but every shows has at least one. However, it does not change the fact that this is a good flowing and visual art style. It would be lower if it did not work well with the music.
Sound: Okay this does have a English Dub version and I have watched both, but I'll get into details of that later. What pulled me most into this series wasn't the story or characters but the music it used. It was beautiful. It also worked into the animation very strongly. I give an example, but I don't want to spoil it. The music, to me, is the most memorable thing in this. And it really works into the show. Also everything is on queue. No delay sounds, it gives general ideas as to what the mood of the moment is. All very fitting. Voice Actors really know how to sell their characters. Also the dub version does a really good job, no one is really bland in this, even the bland characters, but they do have good reason to be bland.
Characters: Story is a good thing to have, but you need characters to drive it forward. Angel Beats is on no shortage of that. Every character is diverse, and if you are unable to relate to them, you will most certainly understand them. Again I want to go into more detail, but I don't want to spoil it.
Enjoyment: This is one of the best I have seen. 13 episode, all great, and all memorable. None of them has a real weak episode and it always keeps the plot going.
Overall: I would recommend this to anyone.
