Well you dont have to think it was on the lips, the author made it very clear in the interview "Fushimi: Overall I'm satisfied with episode 16 but there are two dissatisfactory elements, I'm not saying this officially but personally I'd have preferred for the last kiss to have been on the mouth.". In the novel it doesn't specify, but we see here his intentions if things were up to him. Also i dont know if you saw, but in the novel Kirino asked during that day (not sure if before or after the kiss) for Kyousuke to buy her a Meruru ring(this wasn't included in the anime, either due to time constraints or possibly as censorship). That in conjunction with the kiss greatly supports the implication that their relationship would continue in secret.
If you have seen both Japanese and Funimation (Bruce Faulconer's music is amazing imo) you are more than qualified to be considered a True DBZ fan. If you are looking for immense comedy then you can find malaysian dub clips on youtube, they only did the movies, but they are hilariously bad. Here is an example, see if it floats your boat. This clip is entitled "Here I come Kuralla", and is from movie 6 with Cooler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi2hIop9e7c&list=FLKpo-2IMQZUtBKekxpFglGg&index=139
Better for me to say that Koi doesnt have lust relative to what you have seen in things like Kiss x Sis. All i'll say is there are feelings of being aroused, which is a perfectly human reaction. No fan service/ecchi or anything filthy, this is a psychological anime.
Yes dont hesitate with YYH, its very entertaining. I didnt know there were trading cards for it, I have some pokemon trading cards, never got into yugioh(besides the card games on game boy advance/consoles), but my business involves Magic the Gathering cards, so thats more of my cup of tea.
Yeh HxH is the real deal, i cant 100% vouch on the new edition since i have yet to hear the voices (the biggest problem for me is the voices are different from the original cast who i fell in love with) however many of them are elite Seiyu. You will likely be blown away by how good it is, similar to getting hit by a bus and being in a stupor. You can rely on the super high rating of it (both its mal rating which is in the top 1%, and its official japanese tv ratings which were generally only behind One Piece)
Many long running series have arcs that it feels difficult to get through, luckily it never happened to me with one piece, however i can all but guarantee you wont feel that way with HxH. YYH i cant guarantee, but if your a fan of DBZ you will never find anything more comparable. Its battles arent as drawn out, and its more strategic (HxH is even more strategic and nearly unparalleled.)
Yes I understand, sometimes if an anime puts you in a bad mood and leaves a sour taste that is enough to merit a low score. The novel (i havent read it, just seen reviews and discussions) has the kiss area unspecified, however here are a few links that discuss the authors (Fushimi) thoughts in interviews, including his disagreement with the anime director a scumbag named Kashiwada
Yes DB is responsible for most of us getting into anime. I also had the privelage of rewatching it multiple times these past few years in proper japanese, as well as funimation, ocean, malaysian, and big green dubs.
Definitely look into Koi Kaze, just note that its pretty realistic, and there are lustful thoughts, however the anime is very mature and doesnt have fan service or anything of the sort.
In terms of other True Elite Shounen, your best bet in terms of being comparable to DBZ are Yu Yu Hakusho . It started while DBZ was airing, has a comparable world in terms of Ki (Reiki in YYH), Power Levels, Tournaments, Spirit World, King Emma etc. In english it shares some voice actors from english dbz including Vegeta's VA Christopher Sabat. Note you are way better off watching it in Japanese (Imo applicable to all anime), however i will probably watch the english version in its entirety (only scene a few clips to get a feel for it in terms of Accuracy and VA's) w/my female in the near future.
Your 2nd best bet for a True Elite Shounen is Hunter x Hunter. Its by the same Mangaka as YYH, just made 5+ years later (late 90's, similar time as one piece). You have numerous viewing options, since there was the initial series over a dozen years ago ( and 3 arcs in Ova's w/the same original VA), and a more accurate to the manga new rendition titled Hunter x Hunter (2011). I have only seen the originals, and am waiting for the new series to get a bit further before jumping it (Its content long surpassed where the original ended). Its at about EP 120 now, with probably roughly 30-40 to go, since unfortunately the mangaka is notoriously lazy and has been on a hiatus since 2012 so the anime is gonna run outa content this year.
Those 2 are what I and many consider to be the best Shounen besides DBZ (also One Piece is right there, however it is super long and i see you have it on hold. It gets better past episode 100). Much lower tier options are Naruto and Bleach, which i wouldn't advise unless you wanna just go through all the famous anime. Fairy Tail is in the middle of the pack, better than Trash like Naruto/Bleach, but not at the level of the Elites.
Good review on OreImo, although perhaps you are being a bit harsh with your score due to the last scene. For your information the Author meant for it to be a kiss on the lips and not the cheek as the "favor", with the obvious implication being that those type of things would continue along with the "life counseling" segments. However the pathetic anime producers were too scared to go this "far" and forced the censored and skewed ending.
I see you are a fellow True Dragon Ball Fan, I could give you many relevant recommendations, but I will just advise you to watch a superior version of OreImo in terms of the taboo relationship, namely an anime called Koi Kaze. Check it out you wont be disappointed, thats a series that has balls and faithfully recounts a controversial relationship as well as having an accurate Psychological portrayal. Just don't expect cute (unrealistic) art like OreImo.
