Very nice Re:Zero review. It really exposes all the main flaws of the anime that I didn't see as properly indicated in other reviews, and gives a good idea of what to expect. I remember there was a review that completely dissected everything wrong with each arc, but it disappeared for some reason, unfortunately. If there's something I started noticing about Re:Zero the more I saw it, it was how contrived and forced the writing was, but no one seemed to have pointed that out...? Even though it's the anime's main problem that ruins the whole thing. I don't think I've seen so much shock value in one show, and it's like it's constantly forced down the characters' throats. Watching Re:Zero is like watching mice being pushed down a linear path towards their own misery and it started getting really boring to see after a while; getting to an episode is torture :/ I'm planning on submitting a review after I finish the anime, but it's a test of my patience and now that I've seen something that points all the flaws out more succintly than I could ever do (my review's sitting on my documents folder with 7000 words, it's such overkill ^^'), I'm doubting whether there'd be meaning to that, hahaha.
The most frustrating part about Re:Zero is definitely how it could've actually been something good, but it's like no one bothered to execute it in a genuine and thoughtful manner. As in, the people behind it had the brains to do it, but they went down the shock value road and made it a really boring and slow anime. I don't know about you, but when the plot wasn't whipping the characters into shape and throwing despair at them, they were more refreshing to watch, but these moments tend to last about 2-5 minutes, if they're there at all. Well, it was just a huge shame overall. By the way, you definitely nail it when explaining that the despair and terrible situations that are supposedly there for "deconstruction" purposes and break trends actually make up a flaw of their own by being executed just as poorly as the opposite; it's so true. It just destroys the actual meaning of breaking the trend and making something more realistic when the methods themselves become just as exaggerated. Though, anyway, I guess my rambling's pretty unwarranted, so I'm sorry. It's not as if there is a need to validate your own points (because they stand just fine on their own), and more as if I feel as though I could and might as well show appreciation for a review that really pointed out Re:Zero for what it is, especially when I was seeing a lack of similar opinions. Hopefully that's not troublesome!
Well, whatever the case, it also seems that you're new to MAL, so, welcome, by the way ^^
